Our Vision is to:
create the basis for a new pragmatic working collaboration between the Creative Seychelles Agency and its stakeholders, especially artists/ creative entrepreneurs, but also the wider public.
The Mission of the Creative Seychelles Agency is:
- PROMOTE the arts and culture so as to enable Seychellois to enjoy richer, more meaningful lives through participation at all levels; emancipate the Seychellois people through access to culture by developing a more intercultural and inclusive society that would increase the general wellbeing of the population and decrease various forms of discrimination.
- ENCOURAGE excellence in the arts and take into account the economic potential of the arts as a means of livelihood for creative individuals and of the creative industries to the overall economy;
- ACHIEVE a new dynamic equilibrium between the national cultural institute and its new goals and responsibilities through an awareness of the potential of the creative economy of Seychelles and of fast changing contexts;
- SPELL OUT how Creative Seychelles Agency transitions from a primarily cultural sponsorship and arts patronage role to that of culture administrator and arts management role; shift from direct sponsorship to public cultural investment;
- ENABLE the Creative Seychelles Agency to engage with the larger creative sector in a trusted partnership through new structures that will enhance dialogue and representativity;
- FOSTER self-regulation, good governance and arts management competencies in the various cultural domains with the creative Seychelles mainly as facilitator;
- EMPOWER the Seychelles Creative individual to capitalize on his/her creative potential and derive economic benefit there from by providing the optimal legal and economic frameworks; to take into account the potential of digital technologies.
- DEVELOP synergies and complementarities with the knowledge economy, digital ecosystems, cultural tourism, and with a view to making cultural industry the fourth pillar of sustainable development;
- RESPECT our international engagements as a signatory to various international cultural conventions and promote/develop local, regional and international cooperation and exchanges in the creative industry.
Functions of Creative Seychelles Section
The functions of the Creative Seychelles Agency Sections are to:
- identify and support the skills and opportunities that capacitate the thriving of the creative industries in close collaboration with the relevant departments and other agencies within the creative industry sector;
- prepare and implement programmes giving incentives, provide opportunities for the export of creative products and services in collaboration with relevant partners;
- develop economically viable artistic programmes, cultural festivals and other activities in partnership with other organisations having an interest in the creative industries;
- promote and develop opportunities for artistic and cultural expression;
- lay down and monitor the standards in the creative industries, in close collaboration with the relevant departments and other agencies within the creative industry sector;
- encourage enterprises for the manufacturing and sale of artistic creations and related materials in close collaboration with the relevant departments and other agencies within the creative industry sector;
- facilitate access to services related to the protection of intellectual property;
- prepare and submit to the government, a plan for setting up an arts village in order to develop a market for creative industries and operate it in accordance with the terms and conditions specified by the National Institute;
- develop programmes in close collaboration with relevant departments and other agencies of the government, to provide exposure to persons engaged in creative industries; and\
- facilitate the access to grants to such persons engaged in a creative industry with a view to promote creativity in collaboration with relevant partners.
